The British Dermatological Nursing Group Conference has been an annual highlight on the Caring Matters Now calendar for over 10 years; each year we attend the national nursing conference to raise awareness of CMN, ensuring nurses are equipped to provide the right level of care for children and adults affected by CMN.
In 2023, we recruited Rebecca and Helen to become our conference volunteers, and through their passion to educate healthcare professionals about CMN, we were able to develop our partnership with the British Dermatological Nursing Group (BDNG) even further…
Caring Matters Now had the privilege to exhibit our ‘how do you C Me Now?’ series of photographic portraits at the BDNG annual conference in Autumn 2023. The portraits took centre stage and ‘wowed’ hundreds of delegates each time they entered the exhibition hall.
Following the 2023 BDNG annual conference, Rob Mair, BDNG Managing Editor, invited Caring Matters Now to write an Editorial which was published in the Dermatological Nursing Journal in December 2023. This is a membership-based journal which is sent to all 3,000 members who are primarily dermatology nurses, based in the UK and Ireland, with a small contingent further afield. The publication entitled ‘Picture the difference,’ gave more insight into our ‘how do you C Me Now?’ photographic series and the psychological impact recorded for those involved.
In March 2024 our relationship with the BDNG continued to flourish as we featured a Patient Voice Perspective, which was written by our conference volunteer Helen, who knows first-hand the impact of living with CMN.
In the summer of 2024, we had the privilege of connecting with Jodie Newman, BDNG’s Specialist Dermatology Nurse who is passionate about raising awareness of rare conditions like CMN. Jodie invited us to record a podcast which is soon to be released!
In October 2024, Rebecca and Helen returned to the BDNG annual conference to educate more healthcare professionals about CMN once again!
We have even more collaborative plans for 2025 too, including the delivery of CMN educational sessions to GPs and attending BDNG’s Rare Disease Day on the 12th of May 2025 in Birmingham. Watch this space as we report on these wonderful opportunities throughout 2025!
