My connection to Caring Matters Now began when my daughter, Alicia, was born with Congenital Melanocytic Naevus (CMN). From the very start, the charity was there for us, offering support, guidance, and a sense of community that meant so much. Over the years, we’ve built strong connections with other families, and I’ve seen firsthand the incredible work Caring Matters Now does. So, when the opportunity came to get involved, I knew I had to give back. I’m proud to be the London Support Contact, and Social Media Volunteer for Caring Matters Now.
As the London Support Contact, I’m here for families and individuals in the area who are affected by CMN. Whether it’s answering questions, offering reassurance, or simply being a listening ear, my goal is to make sure no one feels alone on this journey. I also help organise an annual regional event where members and their families can come together, connect, and support one another in a welcoming environment – often providing the first opportunity for some to meet others with CMN in person.
In my role as the charity Social Media Volunteer, I focus on engaging with the online community – responding to comments, interacting with posts, and helping to create a welcoming and supportive space. Social media is such a powerful tool for bringing our community together, and I love being able to connect with families, raise awareness, and help share the incredible work Caring Matters Now does.
This role is important to me because I know what it’s like to navigate the unknown when your child is born with CMN. I want to be there for other families in the same way that Caring Matters Now was (and still is) there for us. Having a strong support network makes all the difference, and I’m honoured to be a part of that for others.
CMN doesn’t just affect individuals – it impacts families, emotions, and confidence. That’s why raising awareness and fostering a supportive community is so important. Through my role, I hope to help others feel empowered, informed, and connected. If you ever need support, have questions, or just want to chat, I’m always happy to help!
