In May 2025, Maja completed the Dale Carnegie course, Level TWO of our Young Ambassador Programme!
Level 2 of the programme offers the unique opportunity to complete the prestigious Dale Carnegie Course. Designed to equip you with the communication and human relation skills required to be successful in any setting, this world-famous programme of self-development helps the leaders of tomorrow leverage their skills so they can strengthen relationships between colleagues, solve problems, create collaborative cultures, boost morale and motivation within teams, and ultimately deliver outstanding results in any area of concentration.
As a charity, we are extremely proud of Maja who won the ‘best 60second performance.’ On accepting this award, Maja said, “For my defining moment I spoke about how powerful it was to share my Personal Story recently for Caring Matters Now. I didn’t think I had it in me. I learnt not to shy away from opportunities and sharing my story showed me the support that I had. I have learnt to go after things and not to shy away.”
Having completed the 3-day intensive course in London last year. Maja shared this reflection on the experience, “I really loved it, I didn’t imagine it would be like that- I thought that the adults who were there wouldn’t see me on ‘their level.’ However, what I found was the opposite- having a young person in the group made everyone more comfortable. The people were really cool. The activities were really liberating, this felt like a safe place for me to be myself and not to shy away from opportunities. As our group engaged in the activities, there was a turning point as we all relaxed together. Everyone in the group accomplished something there.”
If I could pass on any tips for another young person completing the course in the future I would say:
- You deserve to be there like everyone else – I feel a bit of an imposter, like I wouldn’t belong there, but when I got there, I didn’t feel like that!
- Don’t shy away – you will regret it if you don’t give it your best and get everything you can out of it.
- It’s not scary – people in the room were proud of me, and I got a sense that they felt that, if I could do it as a young person, they could too. This was empowering!
