We would firstly like to say a huge thank you to everyone that registered their interest in running the 2021 Virgin Money London Marathon, for Caring Matters Now. It is encouraging to know what some people really are prepared to put themselves through for our charity, thank you.
As we mentioned we are only allocated one place every five years! So, this is a unique opportunity for us.
We placed all the names of those that registered in the hat (bowl) on Thursday 3rd September 2020 and the lucky winner was selected at random.
The Virgin Money London Marathon is taking place on 3rd October 2021 and we are delighted to announce that the winner of the Caring Matters Now silver bond place is… Matthew Friskey.
Matthew is dad to Sophie who has CMN and he is committed to helping raise awareness and funds for Caring Matters Now.
This was Matthews response when told his name had been picked out of the hat:
“I’m feeling nervous and excited. I’ve been running a fair amount recently, mainly to get a break from the kids! I haven’t run anything near a marathon though. I nominated myself because I thought it would be a good challenge and to support the charity. I have a daughter, Sophie, with CMN and I have always been keen to help raise funds and awareness.”
