In July 2024, Caring Matters Now held its North East England regional gathering at the beautiful Newham Grange Country Farm in Middlesborough.
The gathering brought together families from across the region, with some attending for the first time and others reconnecting with familiar faces. It was a wonderful opportunity for families to engage with others affected by CMN—children of all ages, siblings, and even grandparents—emphasising how CMN impacts not only those with the condition but also their loved ones.
For the first time, the event was hosted by an adult member with CMN rather than a parent, adding a meaningful new perspective to the discussions. Helen and her family were pleased to chat with attendees about her experiences of living with CMN as an adult and to answer questions from both parents and children.
Although the weather was wet, it didn’t dampen spirits. Families explored the farm on a private tour and enjoyed the different play areas, followed by a cosy indoor picnic lunch.
“I really enjoyed hosting my first Caring Matters Now Regional Gathering,” said Helen. “The event offered a meaningful opportunity for families to share their CMN experiences in a friendly and supportive environment and build connections within the Caring Matters Now community. It also provided a great platform for me to talk about CMN with my own children who came along and really enjoyed the day.”
We look forward to seeing our North East members again in 2025 – fingers crossed that we will be treated to some drier weather next year!
