Ireland Regional Gathering review – 1st April 2023

It’s a long way to Tipperary!  Or is it?

As we were planning our annual support event for Dublin Zoo in October this year, we had a brainwave to host another gathering somewhere else in the country. Ireland’s not that big and with our positive “sure it’ll be grand!” attitude, we embarked on hosting two regional gatherings 2023.

Using sophisticated technology (Google Maps), cross referenced with where some of our families are located, we decided to meet up in Clonmel, Co. Tipperary.  Local knowledge was provided by our adult member Ann, who found a wonderful park with not one, but two fantastic playgrounds, with easy access and public facilities.

So, on Saturday the 1st of April we met up and essentially took over the wonderful sensory playground in Richard Mulcahy Park, for a picnic and a play.  We were prepared, as always, for all weather, but the rain held off.  Our adults got a chance to share experiences in an informal relaxed setting and for some, this was the first time meeting other people affected by CMN. The children all had a wonderful time playing together in the playground and sharing sweets!  A big thanks to all members, new and old, for making it such a lovely afternoon.

I think we’ll be back, Tipperary!
