Hi everyone, my name is Hanna. I am the youngest doctor in my hospital – or at least that’s what my paediatrician and her team say!
For the past few years, I have been taking part in the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) Clinical Exam Preparation Course, the MRCPCH, at the hospital where I was born. This course prepares future paediatricians for their exams through group work, discussion, and role play.
For me, it’s a chance to show them what Congenital Melanocytic Nevus (CMN) is. Their task is to guess, through medical assessment, what my condition is. Very rarely do they get it right. They often confuse it with Café-au-lait spots or other conditions.
That’s why I’m happy that after each course, 50 future paediatricians have learned what CMN is. And in the future, when a child is born with it, they’ll know that it’s Congenital Melanocytic Nevus, not just a spot, scar, or some other disease.
