So, on Friday 14th June Nick, Norman and Phil will be departing to kick start the Stok Kangri challenge to summit India’s highest trekkable peak at over 6,000m. They will start in Leh the regional capital in Ladakh one of the most exciting Indian mountain regions.

This challenge is part of our 7 challenges on 7 continents fundraising campaign.  To date, teams of Caring Matters Now members and supporters have completed challenges in Africa, Europe, South America and Australasia.  Now it is time to take on Asia!

Stok Kangri stands magnificently at 6,153 m towering over the Stok range of the Himalayas. It is a popular peak to take on as an initial non-technical foray into high altitude mountaineering.

The challenge will start in the Tibetan influenced, enchanting town of Leh, in the Ladakh region of Northern India. Already 3,500 m above sea level, over the first few days they will take time acclimatising to the altitude visiting the historic and religious sites of the region as well as exploring the local bazaars and streets of this bustling gateway to the Himalayas. They will trek steadily on their way to the summit of Stok Kangri as they reach higher altitude, passing through gorges, criss-crossing the Markha River before the path steepens.

On the tough summit night, they will cross the glacier to a steep ridge and make a scramble to the top. After all the effort, they will be rewarded with breathtaking views as the sun rises, surrounded by the Himalayan peaks all the way to the horizon. After taking it all in, they will descend down to celebrate this massive achievement together.

Nick, Norman and Phil have SERIOUSLY sacrificed a huge amount of time, money and energy to make this challenge happen to support all those with CMN. We are extremely proud of all three of them and wish them every success. This Stok Kangri challenge is the ultimate challenge and one only the brave can conquer! Go CMN Stok Kangri Team!

Please show them your support and make a donation here. Help them reach their target of £15,000.
