My name is Steven Bouris. I am a Resilience and Self-Empowerment Motivational Speaker and Author. I was born in the 1980s with a large CMN on my forehead. My story is about the challenges I faced growing up with my birthmark, how I suppressed my emotions and felt shame which changed who I was as a person, to survive the traumas and adversity I endured.
People would stare at my birthmark, and it didn’t stop there. Well-intended advice became sticks I beat myself down with, crushing my self-confidence and feeling ashamed. I believed I wasn’t good enough becoming a perfectionist and high achiever, to prove my self-worth. I had a very successful career as an Aviation Engineer for 17 years.
Then everything changed. In my 40s, facing challenging events in my personal and professional life, my past insecurities resurfaced. Struggling with anxiety and depression and feeling bad about myself I somehow found the courage to confront my past traumas. My life drastically transformed the moment I shed my fears and insecurities, finding strength in sharing my most vulnerable secrets. Offloading the burdens that had debilitated me for decades, opening up and sharing my journey, I realised that others were also hiding in fear from their insecurities, to save face and show strength.
Now, it is my mission to inspire, empower and ignite a spark in the human spirit, helping others overcome their fears & insecurities so they can live a life of freedom and liberation, aligning with their true and authentic, unique self. I want to let people know they are not alone. I want to be a voice for those too scared to speak.
I am passionate about growth and evolutionary change. I am an affiliate and mentor with the Nevus Outreach organization, sharing my knowledge and life experience with those reaching out for help and support on their journey. One of my most exciting achievements to date is sharing my story, as a keynote speaker at the 2024 Nevus Outreach Shine Conference in the US, in front of a global audience. In 2023, I focused on writing a book entitled “Different” which will soon be launched sharing my journey of self-discovery.
I embrace my uniqueness and will keep challenging myself to grow and evolve with every new experience.
