Ireland Regional Gathering Review

On Saturday 2nd October, we were delighted to host the first in person Ireland regional gathering since the start of the pandemic. We planned the event early in the year for Dublin Zoo as it was an outside venue, optimistically hoping that any restrictions would be a thing of the past by October, but alas, it was not to be.  (Another time, Dublin Zoo!).

We quickly moved venue to Cabinteely Park in south county Dublin, where our families could gather and chat under a specially ‘reserved’ tree in the centre of Cabinteely Parks’ famous playground, which is suitable for all ages. We were on weather watch up until 6pm the previous night, but there was a gap in clouds forecast the times, and we decide to proceed.

The adults had a chance to catch up, meet new members and share experiences. The children had a wonderful time in the playground including bravely climbing the high climbing frame that would make most adults (well, me) shudder. Their enjoyment was enhanced by our Young Ambassador, Lauren, who ensured all the children had enough sweets!

Despite the promises of an orange weather warning and a last minute change of venue, everyone had a lovely time.

For September 2022, and to celebrate the dual big birthday celebrations of Caring Matter Now UK (25 years) and Caring Matters Now Ireland (1 year), we are planning on our biggest gathering ever.  This will be held in Tayto Park, Co. Meath.  We hope to see you all there!
