Tree of Remembrance

On Sunday 17th July 2022, charity founders Jodi Whitehouse and Val Unsworth planted a Tree of Remembrance to mark the 25th anniversary year of Caring Matters Now.  The Tree of Remembrance provides a physical location for bereaved families and the wider Caring Matters Now community to visit and remember loved ones who have passed away due to CMN complications during the 25 years of Caring Matters Now.

Val and Jodi, along with staff member Rachel, were joined by Jon, Donna and Callum who sadly lost their daughter and sister Holly due to CMN complications. Each person present helped to plant the oak tree by placing soil around the embedded root. Val shared a few words of reflection and remembrance, followed by Jodi reading aloud the names of those who have passed away due to CMN complications during the 25 years of Caring Matters Now.  As the names were read aloud, personalised stones were placed next to the oak tree.

For everyone present, this was a very special and significant occasion.
