There are still some in the medical profession that are not fully aware of Congenital Melanocytic Naevi Syndrome so it is important you seek a referral to your local Dermatologist or Dr Kinlser and her team at Great Ormond Street Hospital. This will ensure you receive the correct diagnosis and information on CMN. Follow the guidelines below:
Request a CMN Medical Information Booklet from us (email email@example.com) and take this along to your local GP. Ask for a referral to a dermatologist.
Not many GPs will be able to diagnose this type of birthmark, so it is important you go armed with the information to allow them to make the necessary arrangements for referral.
If the GP does not wish to refer you, ask for a second opinion.
If you are referred to a consultant paediatrician/dermatologist and you are not satisfied with the prognosis, you should ask for a referral directly to Dr Kinlser, Paediatric Dermatology, Great Ormond Street Hospital.
If you are finding you are not getting very far through this process and you are concerned that the birthmark needs immediate attention please contact us.
