Yesterday Jodi and I went to the GP to get our injections. To my dismay I needed 4 whilst Jodi only needed 2- one being Yellow Fever which we have to get at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine. After speaking to the nurse for around 30 minutes about the different viruses and/or illnesses we could catch whilst in Africa, all I could think was “…and I was only worrying about altitude sickness?!”. Nervous laughs came from Jodi and me whilst we were waiting for our first lot of injections. I decided to go first, not being brave but to get it over and done with, and as the nurse approached me with the needle she asked, “Now Mia, you’re not likely to faint are you?” Looking at Jodi I replied “No” but thought Jodi might do with the look on her face. To be honest though we were very brave especially for two grown women but considering my nephew Seth went for his 3 month injections and didn’t bat an eyelid… he put us to shame!! After our appointment we went out to the receptionist to book our second lot of injections and she actually said, “Next time you can have a lollypop” so guess I’ll definitely go back there!!
