My granddaughter Lois who is 5 years old was born with CMN so we have a very personal reason to raise money for the charity.

On Saturday 18th April we held a charity night for CMN in Gilroyd social club. This is our third event of this type. We previously raised over £2500 with the combined events so we were looking forward to a good fundraising event.

It really is a simple formula – we have Lewis Hill who does his excellent Elvis and Everything Show at a reduced rate. We then charge £3.50 per ticket and which helps pay for Lewis. We then source a raffle from local shops and restaurants and personal prizes. We sell the raffle tickets about 2 weeks before the event and on the night. We also on the evening hold a bingo. We are able to use the clubs gambling license so everything is legal and above board and then we sit back and let everyone have a good night. I find it’s nice to give people a good time instead of just asking for a donation and everyone there enjoyed the evening without even realising how much they were donating.

We had a grand total of £1500 which we decided to donate to Joe Unsworth’s Just Giving page for his trek to the Avenue of Volcanoes Trek in September. This way we raise funds for CMN and raise awareness too.
